We have good reason to be proud of all our players after the recent National Brass Contest in Wellington, but two of our players pulled out all the stops to bring home some silverware for the band.
Steven Booth became the New Zealand National Baritone Champion with his performance of the set test, Nostalgic Arias (Peter Adams).
Joe Thomas brought home the New Zealand National Bass Trombone Title with his performance of Crack (Jack Bewley).
Both Steven and Joe took home the titles with an impressive three-point lead over the second place performers.
The band events were hotly contested with Wellington Brass and Brisbane Excelsior both gunning for the A Grade title. The 2017 title went to Brisbane Excelsior by the narrowest of margins (half a point).
